The exhilarating and limitless feeling that comes from sitting down
with a fresh paint brush and a bare canvas is what I love most about
creating a piece of art. If you allow yourself the freedom to tap into
uncensored, unabashed creation, then the discoveries you find will be
most honest and beautiful.
I am very drawn to expressionism and surrealism. In the summer of 2001,
I spent the summer in Florence, Italy at the Lorenzo DiMedeci
Institute studying oil painting and Italian. Now, I utilize mostly
acrylics and water colors.
During the rehearsal process of Sweeney Todd, I was so
inspired by the music and complexity of story that I created a series of
Sweeney Todd Paintings. I tried to capture the passion and pain of
each song and character through color and brush stroke.
